Singapore Designers Showcase presents Aijek, AWOL and Triologie

Hi Huneybees,

Amongst the big players in the fashion scene, our homegrown designers were given the spotlight at the Singapore Designers Showcase (SDS) during Audi Fashion Festival 2014. SDS is a dedicated platform organised by the Textile and Fashion Federation (TaFf) and supported by Spring Singapore. Presenting Aijek, A.W.O.L. and Trilogie...

Aijek

Aijek's Autumn Winter 2014 Collection - "Fly Home"
Danelle Woo, Aijek’s designer presented her Autumn Winter 2014 collection. Woo had been known  for easy-to-wear pieces made with sustainable fabrics, combining high fashion with high street experience, having worked in both multi label luxury stores Pois and Zara.

For this collection, Woo wanted to capture the difference between real life and fantasy, naming the collection - "Fly Home". The lace details featured on the scalloped hem dresses and graphic floral motifs added a sense of romanticism to her works. Totally relaxed chic, oozing with sexiness.

Triologie
Triologie Spring Summer 2014 Collection - “Kaleidoscope”
Sylvia Lim and Jennifer Neo (creators of Trilogie) brings us back to the 80's with their Spring Summer 2014 Collection - "Kaleidoscope". A label all about spontaneity, wearability and versatility, this collection visions personalities like the late Diana, Princess of Wale against the infamous Rubik’s Cube of bright colours, bold details and a mix of dated textures and prints.

It was great fun in the beginning, but the very last look of trying to have something to climax, turned out to be a little more bleah, even though there was a removable tail to the moto jacket. But other than that the straw hats were pretty appealing, it looked as though the models were blonde, seems like a clever idea for quick hair colour change...

A.W.O.L.

A.W.O.L.'s Autumn Winter 2014 collection - "State of Mind"
As the little boy and girl couple decked out in multi-coloured houndstooth tracksuit and dress was sent down the runway at the opening of the A.W.O.L., the audience were clapping and sitting straight up to see what Singapore designer Alfie Leong has installed.

Alfie looks to the past, present and future for inspiration for the A.W.O.L.’s Autumn Winter 2014 Collection - “State of Mind”. It was first shown during Seoul Fashion Week as part of the Singapore Showcase for AW14-15, showcasing  the moods and emotions of the human mind when thinking about the past, present and future.

His experimental spirit and skill delivered a series of futuristic pieces that included three-dimensional structured jackets in chrome leather and changeable puffer jackets that morphed into long coats. A.W.O.L was the standout label of the entire show. But I must say those amazing headpieces definitely stole the show, adding on to the unique profiles and silhouettes.

I can't wait to see the upcoming works from these 3 local labels. I bet with the growing fashion market, we will also see more and more homegrown labels. Jia You everyone!
