What Happened At Anisong Fantasy Live 2017 Singapore?

| |
Hi Huneybees,

Anisong Fantasy Live 2017 Singapore was a funfare for Anisong fans as the Megabox Event Hall @ BigBox was packed on 18 March 2017, with fans of all ages and gender, to catch a glimpse of their favourite Anisong artistes performing LIVE in front of them.

Despite the sound system was horrific, Anisong fans were very forgiving as they were screaming to every Anisong artiste coming on stage and were happy to sing along to every song while waving their light sticks in unison to the tempo.

Prior to the start of the Anisong Fantasy Live 2017 Singapore, Anisong fans were treated to an exclusive in-person footage by ClariS performing songs like Connect, CLICK, Luminous, Anemone, Colorful, as well as the special animated Singapore MV version for Clever! Clever indeed...

The concert started strong with GARNiDELiA performing Ambiguous, Blazing, 約束 -Promise code-, and Gokuraku Jodo.

After GARNiDELiA's performance, ELISA took the stage with her powerful,opera-like vocals with three songs - ex:tella, Real Force, and REALISM.

The third performer was Takigawa Alisa, who performed Season, 色褪せない瞳 and さよならのゆくえwith her guitar, the only vocalist who played an instrument on stage that evening.

Next up was Haruna Luna, who performed both of her SAO ending songs, Overfly and Startear as well as アイヲウタエ and Kimiiro Signal.

The welcome surprise part of Anisong was the collaboration among Anisong Artistes, performing covers of songs by others artistes. First of the three collaboration involved ELISA x Takigawa Alisa singing the cover of Departures -あなたにおくるアイの歌 by EGOIST.

The second collaboration was GARNiDELiA x Haruna Luna doing the cover of INNOCENCE. I must admit it was quite exciting and heartfelt to listen to INNOCENCE as the original singer, Aoi Eir is currently on indefinite hiatus from her singing.

The third collaboration actually involved all previous four (4) performers ( minus Toku from GARNiDELiA) as the ladies did a joint cover of 君の知らない物語 by supercell to the delight of the audience!

After the collaboration song session, Aimer took the stage with a series of acoustic songs - Brave Shine, LAST STARDUST, StarRingChild, 茜さす, and ninelie - accompanied only by a pianist. Seated in darkness in an elegant long dark grown with all projected screens switched off, causing some confusion among Anisong fans, Aimer quickly settled everyone down with her strong and clear vocal.

While she didn't explain why she chose to sing in the darkness, she did mentioned that she hope her songs (and not her look!?) will inspire others.

Last but not least, Kalafina amazed the audience with a grand entrance, performing Magia Quatro while dressed in long heavy kimonos. At the end of the song, they threw off the kimonos, revealing the white stage dresses beneath. They then proceeded to perform One Light, ring your bell, Sprinter and 君の銀の庭, the other song from the popular series 魔法少女まどか☆マギカ.

With the superb performance by the Anisong artistes, the concert could not end without an encore request from the Anisong fans and their requests were granted with two collaboration songs by Kalafina x Aimer for believe and あなたに出会わなければ 〜夏雪冬花〜.

Overall Anisong Fantasy Live 2017 Singapore was a great success, going by the positive reaction from the audience after the concert. Collaboration among artistes was definitely a present surprise and the moment of the event for any Anisong fans, including myself. However it would be great if all six (6) Anisong artistes could appear for a joint collaboration for the final encore.
As highlighted in the beginning, the sound system was a major let down for me. More could be done to fine tune the sound system before the show as the music of ClariS and GARNiDELiA were almost inaudible due to the sound from the microphones were overshadowed by those from the instruments and the random bouncing of sounds from all direction within the makeshift concert hall made the situation worst.

Fortunately, diehard Anisong fans are very forgiving.

If you are a budding animator and am interested in joining Mr. Daniel Chong, Creator and Executive Producer of We Bare Bears, in a two-day animation workshop, be sure to read on!

Cartoon Network has announced its partnership with Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) for 'Imagination Studios' for a two-day animation workshop. The industry workshop for adults will be held on Friday, 21 April while a workshop for children will take place on Saturday, 22 April.

Workshop attendees will be introduced to animation and get to speak to the experts on the behind-the-scenes of creating a successful animated series. They also will receive the golden opportunity to have their animation work shown on Cartoon Network!

The workshops will be held at PIXEL Studios, a dedicated facility launched by IMDA last year to spur Singapore’s next generation of digital content creators. Both events will be fronted by the talented animator, Daniel Chong.

The project will also be screened on Cartoon Network across Asia!

As for the kids’ workshop, it will be open to all participants aged between 9 and 13, and aims to introduce children to the wonderful world of animation. SBCD Korean Tofu House - Hearty Soontofu in CBD

| |
Hi Huneybees,

I finally found Korea in Singapore! Remembering my last trip to Seoul, a local friend brought me to try Soontofu with hot stone pressured rice in a little alley that only locals know how to get to. *Trust me, I could only navigate with my friend leading, I can't find the stall again*

What was unforgettable was the scooping of rice off the hot stone into a bowl and porting tea into the leftover bits of rice in the hot stone for a later enjoyment.

Normally, we would be eating off the hot pot right? Well, this leftover porridge apparently helps in digestion and when you have finished your food, this pot of warm porridge keeps your tummy warm and cosy as you step into their winter cold weather.

I've been thinking of it ever since I'm back in Singapore and have not been able to find that taste, but thankfully I found it in the heart of Tanjong Pagar! For all Korean and spicy food lovers, this new dining experience in town will make you fall in love with Korean dishes all over again.

Unlike the usual Korean BBQ, Tteokbokki (or Ddeokbokki), Ginseng Chicken or Bibimbap that many of us are familiar with, this Korea restaurant - SBCD Korean Tofu House strides to be different among competition by bringing a unique experience to their diners.

Officially opened on 10 January 2017 in Tanjong Pagar Centre, the SBCD Korean Tofu House is the first restaurant that specializes in a variety of healthy and hearty Korean "soontofu” or soft tofu soup. Soontofu is a type of jjigae (Korean stew), consisting of freshly curdled tofu, meat or seafood, egg and gochujang served in a hot stone pot with white rice on the side.

All tofu at SBCD are hand-made every morning from curds of premium imported soybeans and with the final approval from the Chief-cum-Owner himself before it could be sold. Tofu is ideal for all ages as it is naturally gluten-free and low calorie, contains no cholesterol and is an excellent source of protein, iron, and calcium.

The soontofu at SBCD is unlike the tofu you can find in local dishes, their version is smooth, soft and custardy like bean curd, you can simply slurp it up. Couple that with kimchi and other (refillable) side dishes and the piping hot stone rice, this is my always go-to dish. I kept craving for it, that I went back several times, bringing my friends and family members along.

There was lots of seafoods in my Seafood Soontofu!

Every soontofu dish can be prepared in 4 different levels of spiciness for the broth – mild, medium, spicy and crazy hot, and they come in Original Beef or Pork, Assorted, Seafood, Oyster, Abalone, Intestines, Ham & Cheese, Vegetables and Sesame.

Do try the interesting combination of Ham & Cheese Soontofu

I found three baby Abalones in my Abalone Soontofu!!

An unique practice in SBCD Korean Tofu House that is uncommon in Singapore is the way the
rice is served with every meal. Each bowl of rice is served in a hot stone bowl, and scooped out into
a metal bowl. A think crust of scorched rice, called nurungji, will remain in the hot stone bowl and
corn tea will be added into the mixture and covered to retain the heat and to further cook the
leftover rice. After the meal, the diner can enjoy a bowl of nurungji bap, which is a rice porridge
dish that is not only nutritious, but also aids with digestion as it concludes the meal!

Do try Nurungji Bap if you ordered hot stone pressure rice with your meal!

And like a true blue Korean restaurant, you will be served side dishes (banchan) such as the kimchi, seaweed, pickled green chilies and spicy squid strips (MY FAVOURITE!), with every meal order and they are refillable.

Unlike most other Korean restaurants, one of the unique offerings of SBCD Korean Tofu House lies in the banchan that includes a whole fried croaker fish (one time only) prepared to tender perfection. It's sweet and slight crispiness goes very well with soup and rice, bringing a little firework to my tastebuds.

It's love-hate relationship for me with Spicy Grilled Chicken

One of the Chef Recommendation on the menu is the TTeok Galbi

For those who are craving for a serving of meat, you can also try the favourite Korean meat dishes such as L.A. Galbi, Spicy Grilled Chicken, and Spicy Baby Octopus. You can opt to order these delicacies as a main dish or to include them in the combo meal along with a soontofu soup of choice.

My favorite is L.A. Galbi!!!

My recommended dish has got to be the LA Galbi beef that's soft and tender, easy to chew with the sweet marination paired with hot piping rice, it was heaven for me. It is also not messy to eat the dish, as they are cut into bite size where you just have a little chunk of rib bone to cut off, totally no worries about looking too ugly if you are enjoying this with date or client.

The combination of the colour of the finishing with high ceiling and generous seating arrangement make a comfortable dining experience at SBCB Korean Tofu House

All in all, I'm infatuated SBCD Korean Tofu House, its warm and cosy ambiance is all ready to welcome the large office crowds for hearty lunch and dinner.

You could request for private room dining (subject to availability) if you wish for some privacy with your friends or family

As you may have noticed, SBCD Korean Tofu Stew definitely is not as affordable - average SGD35 per pax - as we all hope it is. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for variety, head straight for their combo sets which allows you to have the signature Soontofu stew and a main (although in smaller quantities) at lower prices.
