Hi Huneybees,

SHINE Youth Festival is back this year and it's taking over the whole of July! I was at the media conference last week and I'm here to share the news with you guys.

For those who are wondering if SHINE is some new Korean band, you are wrong. SHINE Youth Festival have been around since 2005 and is a platform for youths between 15-35 years old to indulge in their passion. The initiative celebrates youths' creativity and dynamism and encourages them to use SHINE Youth Festival as a stage to "show-off" their talents.

It is organised by the National Youth Council and steered by a committee made up of representatives from youth organisations and executed by a Youth Organising Committee consisting of volunteers. More information can be found at http://www.shine.nyc.sg/.

This year, their slogan is "Enough Talk, Just Do". Being bigger and bolder this year, SHINE is set to encourage 250,000 youths to "Just Do" what you dream, indulge in their passion. demonstrate their energy and grow their skills and talents.

Annabelle Francis was the host for the conference and she kicked off the event having Mr. Martin Tan (Chairperson of Shine Youth Festival) and Mr.Eric Chua (Co-Chairperson of SHINE 2011 Organizing Committee) on stage to reveal the latest detail about how Shine Youth Festival going to celebrate in town this year and it will be opening on the 2nd July, Saturday at *Scape.

SHINE 2011 will be launched amidst a transformed *Scape, which will dedicate 4 levels of the building to 13 activities, talk about massive partying! The party will then radiate outwards with a 1,000 strong mascot parade from Orchard Central to *Scape; a launch concert at the Playspace @ *Scape, the Singapore Street Festival's 10th Anniversary festivities and an official Chill-out corner by Kit Kat for that much needed break during the mega party.

At the opening, there will be a star studded show with local acts like Derrick Hoh, Tay Kewei, JuzB, Jack and Rai at the night concert to inspire the youths to follow their passions. We at the media conference, were "treated to a performance by JuzB and The Roses as appetizers for what to expect at the opening.

O School, a renowned hip-hop school, will also provide an exclusive peek into the groovy moves at Asia's most awaited hip-hop convention - The Big Groove 2011.

Then, we had on stage, Mr Kenny Low - O School, Ms Annie Pek - Founder of the Singapore Street Festival, Mr Christopher Soh - COSMO 2011, Miss Lynette Lee - Managing Director of *Scape & Ms Henson Stacie - SMU Student representative.

Mascot Parade Ltd had a showcase of our local Cosplayers on stage. Through cosplaying, they wana help youths become more confident in the things that they do.

A clip put together by O School

Then, we had representatives from SMU (Inspirar) to demonstrate the innovative exercise that they created for the elderly and anyone. Just by sitting, one can still be agile and healthy through this exercise.

And I must say the climax was the magical performance by renowned comedy magician, KiKi Tay.

On top of that, during media conference, they also unveiled the SHINE facebook game called "Power 2 Shine". This game is to test whether how fast and your endurance by overcome all the obstacles you might be facing, challenges yourself against the zombies and lastly by completing the mission given within the shortest time. More details at www.power2shine.sg

We had a little sharing session on the floor after the conference for more details and photo taking. I took the opportunity to learn more and get to know the fellow bloggers.

We had these munchies is the goody bag and my little nephew was eyeing on them already.
And a "Enough Talk, Just Do" T-Shirt

Below is the list of events for the month of July. So make sure to be down for the Festival and hope to see you guys there on 2nd July at the opening!

Prevview - Asia's First Interactive Video Job Portal

| |
*This is a sponsored blog entry*

Hi Huneybees,

Nowadays, everywhere you go, I guess the word "facebook" pops up almost every minute right? There's been talk about being careful with the pictures you show as they might affect your career right?

Now, there's PREVVIEW - Asia's First Interactive Video Job Portal. They have a dedicated profile page for jobseekers like in Facebook.
You can express your true self professionally and effectively. Prevview enables you to give a voice and personality to your paper resumes, through cutting edge video streaming technology.
Instead of copy and paste or attach your resume in emails, speak directly to your potential employers through your visumés and "impress" them into hiring you.
PREVVIEW even allows you to back up your visumés with downloadable important documents such as cover letter, resume, porfolio and reference letter.
A sample creative resume
One other thing that I liked about PREVVIEW is that there's in-depth information about the Employers. PREVVIEW has dedicated profile pages for the employers as well, so that the jobseekers are able to know more about the job they are applying for. Everything you need from the HR Video, to Written Profiles and comprehensively described Job Postings to Getting Hired Tips and Q&A can be found under one roof via the Employer Profile Page.

And not to worry, all these important information are all being protected by PREVVIEW's privacy settings.-->

1) All profiles are viewable only by registered Employers and their technology ensures that Employers will not be able to save your video to their computers.

2) Jobseekers have the option of keeping their profile entirely private, where employers can't search for you.but you can still browse through Employer profiles and apply for your dream job.

3) The "Block" feature lets you insert keywords that will block views from everyone associated with them. For e.g. PREVVIEW is your employer and you do not wish for them to see that you have a profile on the portal, you can simply enter "PREVVIEW" as a keyword and they will no be able to view your profile anymore.

[Tried & Tested] Super Massive Nail Supplies Haul

| |
Hi Huneybees,

I've been going crazy the past week purchasing nail polishes and other supplies. Well, it's the Great Singapore Sale, you can't blame me for buying things right? Let me introduce them one by one.

The first one is this beautiful nail polish from L.A. Girls. I got it $9.00 from Guardian Pharmacy and the Color Addict collection is their multi-dimensional collection that comes in 16 shades. I got "Disorder" as I have very little grey nail polish and guess what, it shines with a gold tinge.

Can you believe it?! With 1 coat and the colours is so 'full'!
You can check out more about the colours at the L.A. Girls website. I'm eyeing on the "Glitter Addict" collection. Not sure when it will be one shelves here....

Then, there's this set by Serena Williams for O.P.I.. I missed the previous set and I was glad I snapped this last one off the shelf.  It consist of a Shimmering bronze pink nail polish - Rally Pretty Pink and a Red Shatter Nail Polish.

On left: Rally Pretty Pink in 2 coats. On Right: Red Shatter on  top of Rally Pretty Pink.
I also got these 3 other nail polishes from Orly. They are more expensive than O.P.I. and this is my first time getting from them. I only got these 3 coz I must say they are pretty rare to find in other brands.

From Left: "Oh! Cabana Boy", "Its Not Rocket Science" and "Here Comes Trouble"
I tried the Red Shatter from O.P.I. on them. Think the pink one works better.
I got these Disney Princess nail stickers. I'm still thinking of how to use them for my nails. :)

I bought the above nail polishes all at different places. The dark blue and gold nail polish on each side is from SaSa at 2 for $5 and the matte orange nail polish from Etude House at 20% discount; dark coral nail polish from Rubi for just $2 and Lime Green by UK Constance Caroll from Mustafa for just $4.90.

Latest Turquoise Shatter from O.P.I., my long awaited Crushed Candy Crackele from China Glaze and the final one is  Polar Ice from China Glaze.
I used the coral nail polish from Rubi and lime green nail polish from UK Constance Caroll as base for this nail art.

As seen above, I have the Etude House's matte orange nail polish on the left. It is better to use at least 3 layers of the nail polish to get a nice thorough layer. As for the middle and last nail, I have the Polar Ice nail polish. The nail in the middle had a beige nail polish as base, whilst the other is just 2 layers of Polar Ice.

The Turquoise Shatter on Orange nail polish.

So candylicious right?!
I know this is a super long blog, the next one will be my last item for this entry. It's Etude House's Matte Nail Top Coat. As the name says, it can transform any colour nail polish to a matte nail polish with a suede, velvety  feel.

I tried it on the dark blue nail polish I got from SaSa. On the left is with matter top coat and on the right is just the nail polish itself. You can the difference and I have to admit, with the matte top coat feeling like suede, I just can't stop rubbing and feeling my nails. Hehehehehehe... :)
