An Intimate Time With Sheikh Haikel

Hi Huneybees,

Counting down to just a few more days to New Year 2014, are you ready for it? It's a whole mouthful of events happening down at Marina Bay and definitely something to keep you busy through the year.

Other than just the popular MediaCorp 50th Anniversary Party at the Floating Platform featuring singer-songwriter Wang Leehom and UK’s hottest and biggest boyband of the moment, The Wanted; Aux Media Group will also  be having a concert at The Promontory - Celebrate with the World 2014.

With over seven hours of non-stop entertainment by international and local artistes such as renowned German DJ Ronski Speed, Filipino rock band Rivermaya, Malaysian singer-songwriter Namewee and our homegrown Juz-B, Chriz Tong and Queen Inc. featuring Sylvester Sim. The show will be hosted by Sheikh Haikel and Evelyn Kuek.

I had the special chance to meet up with Sheikh Haikel for a short interview to find out a little more on what's gona happen on 31th Dec...

How does it feel to be part of the biggest countdown event in Singapore?

It's definitely an honour to be part of the countdown, it's a blessing to be part of something so magnanimous and be amongst so many people celebrating.

Tell us more about Celebrate with the World 2014, what can fans expect to see?

Definitely great music, with great lineup like Rivermaya and Namewee, etc. Fans are in for a treat and with me hosting, it's gona be a big show, a very warm show as well, with everyone as a family.

Why do you think everyone should come down to the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2014?

Well, other than the obvious of comfortable big space, it's definitely good luck to be near water for the New Year! What better way to remember such a great day than with great acts and music to entertain us? So, do bring as many people down as possible and celebrate the New Year as one big family!

Other than hosting, would you also be doing a sneak performance on New Year's Eve?

Yes! It is still in discussion, but I would love to perform one of my songs, perhaps something from my newly launched EP - When In Doubt.

You have recently released "Better Than Yesterday" with Yeng Constantino, how did the collaboration come about?

Yeng Constantino and I met at the Academy of Rock and this song was recorded in School Of Music which I jointly open and run with my wife.

I've know Yeng as the Philippines Rock Princess and it was nice to have someone her caliber, so humble and so willing to try and learn new things. The discussion went smoothly and loved the song the moment she heard it.

What's best about this collaboration is that all proceeds from this song goes to Singapore Red Cross in the aid of Typhoon Haiyan Relief. I'm glad to be able to play a part and make it Better Than Yesterday for somebody else.

Do you have any upcoming plans for School Of Music?

Being a school of music, we learn about the classical, rock, pop and hip hop music and next year we will mixing things up like classical with hip hop music or rock with classical music and it will showcased in our recital in June.

These collaborations will also be following me to shows that I'm booked for next year and as for collaborations overseas, I have friends in Malaysia and we are in discussion, maybe Indonesia and Thailand? I'm also open to any collaboration and would definitely love to show them  how beautiful Singapore is.

What would your wish on the Wishing Sphere be?

My wish this year would be to remind everybody to be grateful for that one more day, be blessed to be in a beautiful country like Singapore. A gift of a day is worth more than anything nowadays.
Another thing would be to be yourself, sometimes we do so much for others, we tend to forget to take care of ourselves. We have to take care of ourselves before we can help others.

So, do swing by this Tuesday and join me at the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2014.

Miley Cyrus Latest Big Bang Before 2013 Closure

Hi Huneybees,

Just when I'm about to go to bed, there comes another shocking news share on my Facebook page from Missy Cyrus again. She's back to her mischief and this time round, a raunchy new music video - "Adore You". Though still clothed, well, the important areas were covered, the music video was filmed as though a self recording sex tape, running her hands all over her body and of course her signature thumb in mouth moves.

I have to say this year is definitely Miley Cyrus's year to shine and come on, whole year round, we've been talking about her since her act with Robin Thicke. I'm not one of those people who starts saying how slutty she looks etc, even though it does seems inappropriate for an idol to be acting this way.

But well, picking up from her predecessors - SEX SELLS. Right from the beginning of Marilyn Monroe, the innocent wind blowing of skirt showing tiny bits of flesh, till today's Rihanna's show of body in almost every music video, it's hard to not do something more to shine and stand out from the rest.

Do you think you would have taken notice of the song "Wrecking Ball" if she had not had a music video of her naked on a wrecking ball? It would not have hit its million views if it was Disney innocent cutie pie Hannah Montana in the music video!

I have simply no idea what sort of messages the media out there is trying to give to the younger generation, I am simply not liking the way youngsters are dressed these days, butt cheeks are peeking from shorts, boobs are being obsessively maximised and exposed, this is not how I would want my daughter to be dressed up.

But coming back to the music video, I couldn't help keep staring at her flawless skin and minimal makeup look. There hasn't been many singers who dare to show their without makeup look in front of the paparazzi, moreover a music video for the whole world to see!

I've seen plenty of naked models in my artist days and when I'm watching this video in an artistic point of view, I can't help marvel how beautiful her body is. The slender lines and curves on her body with the natural glow, simply made me want to pick up my paintbrush again...

To conclude, I'll not blame Miley Cyrus for what she's is doing today as she is not the first and wouldn't be the last female artist "going naked" in front of TV hence we shouldn't make a big hoo-ha about this, especially in this ever increasingly information diarrhea age.

Nevertheless, while the line that separate reality from fantasy is getting blurred, we as adult should never give up in educating our younger generation that such "Beauty" is created for the purpose of entertainment.

[Tried & Tested] Easy Peasy Makeup Removal With ORBIS Oil Cut Cleansing Liquid N (Moomin Limited Edition)

Hi Huneybees,

Not just the packaging, even the paper bag has Moomin printed on!

I have been on constant search for effortless makeup removal methods. I hate those that stings the eyes and takes multiple hard rubs to remove that water resistant mascara! So many fine lines created and simply wad a frustrating way to end the day right?

Well, I've found the one just right for me, 3 pumps of this cleansing oil is all I need to remove all the makeup on my face within minutes!

The lovely people of ORBIS delivered this Christmas present just at the right time. With its limited edition Moomin packaging, you will feel all so girly and back to childhood with sweet dreams immediately after you remove all our makeup.

ORBIS is the Number 1 brand in Japan for Holistic Beauty, being an industry pioneer in oil-free skincare. The brand’s inaugural 100% Oil-Free skincare concept was first introduced in 1987. It was a hit, and ORBIS has since taken by storm various Asian countries like Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.

And like their motto, this bottle of cleansing liquid is:
 • Oil-Free
 • Fragrance-Free
 • Alcohol-Free
 • Free of Artificial Colours
 • Mild Acidity
 • Allergy Tested (Formulated to minimize the risk of allergy)
 • Non-Comedogenic Tested (Formulated to minimize the risk of acne)

It's so simple. Now everyday I get home, remove my contact lens and pump 3 pumps of the cleansing liquid in my palm, then I rub it all over my face. I like to use this dry, even though you can do it with water, it's very delicate, no tugging of skin is needed. After which, you can use your facial wash and proceed with your routine face regime.

I even used a makeup remover tissue to test how clean it is after using the cleansing liquid. I'm amazed that there is no residue left! This is my favorite makeup remover by far and I love the moisturised bouncy feeling my skin has after using it!

Excuse my dark circles, but see how clean my skin is!!!

[Tried & Tested] Get Full Rich Glossy Lips With ZA Rich-Glam Liquid Rouge

Hi Huneybees,

ZA will be launching these 8 new shades of Rich-Glam Liquid Rouge, which gives ladies the perfect pout with the right amount of gloss...

We are always concerned about dry lips, wanting to plump up lips like Angelina Jolie's or having long lasting lip colours. So, we end up having lip balm, lipsticks and lip glosses everywhere we go. But with ZA Rich Glam Liquid Rouge, all you need is just 1!

The secret lies in the gloss layer. Once you apply, the lipstick and gloss layer goes on your lips and simply press your lips together, so that the gloss content will seep out to the surface and lock the lipstick layer inside. It's like your topcoat for lipsticks, locking in the colours!

The shades are all very pretty, very Japanese ViVi model-like. Categorized into 3 styles - Sweet, Natural and Elegant, you can definitely find the shade that suits your look for the day. At the event launch, I tried the RS481. It was an all pink party, so I chose the pinkest shade. I simply loved it!

I was also given 2 shades to bring home and here's me using the new ZA Rich Glam Liquid Rouge in PK341 (a peachy shade) for upper lip and RS481 (a pink shade) for lower lip. They are both lovely shades and the unique 'Ultra Fit Applicator' - a spoon-shaped curve that fits the lips, allows application easily in one swipe.

At the event, Hollyhoque and Gripz were there to give us advise on how to dress for the fashion style that goes with the lipsticks, alongside some activities like getting to know how to differentiate leathers...

The ZA Rich-Glam Liquid Rouge that comes in 8 new Asian flattering pink undertones is available in stores from 30 January 2014 at S$18.90 each. I shall leave you with some interesting facts about our lips...

Casio EXILIM EX-10 Compact Digital Camera Features Intelligent Bracketing

Hi Huneybees,

On 20th December 2013, at the ION SKY, Casio Singapore Launched the New Premium Flagship EXILIM EX-10 Compact Digital Camera, World's first compact digital camera featuring a bracketing function that combines two separate parameters.

The Dual Combination Bracketing Function, enabling users to choose from many innovative features at the touch of a button. The range of innovative features include a number of bracketing modes, including focus, aperture, brightness, white balance, contrast and saturation, resulting in a series of nine extremely high quality continuous shots with a single touch of the shutter button.

With this capability, the EX-10 will be able to perform beautifully in situations that are difficult to obtain a satisfactory image with a single shot. For instance, photographing Singapore’s largest garden park - Gardens by the Bay, where trees, domes and the sky would require different settings to be properly exposed. With the new Dual Combination Bracketing function that automatically adjusts the camera settings to manipulate exposure, users will not only achieve better image contrast, but nine quality photos in succession with different exposures to choose from.

Crafted in lightweight yet durable magnesium, this 12 megapixel digital camera, equipped with a 4x optical zoom lens, 28mm wide angle zoom lens with a maximum aperture of f1.8 and 5-axis image stabilization function, will always ensure that users capture crystal-clear, top quality photos, even when on-the-move. Complete with a 1/1.7- inch backlit CMOS image sensor, the EXILIM EX-10 aims to sate the needs of even the most discerning photography enthusiasts.

The EXILIM EX-10 also features in-built wireless connectivity, which—when combined with the EXILIM REMOTE app—allows users to remotely trigger the camera’s shutter, as well as control various functions of the camera. The wireless connectivity also enables users to share their photographs with family and friends whenever and wherever they are, creating more opportunities to bond while on the go. To provide maximum ease-of-use, the EXILIM EX-10 features an additional three different methods of capturing images: self-timer mode, a motion-shutter function when the LCD display is shifted to its upright position for ‘selfies’ and group photos, and a front shutter-button, which further enables users to take photos ergonomically. These functions, combined with a flexible 3.5 inch tilt-screen, offer users a wide range of angles for more precise and creative shots.

Weighing at 384g, with a power-saving mode that increases the longevity of its battery-life, the sleek design of the EXILIM EX-10 marries the best in form and function and is packed with innovative features that will enable users to make the most of life experiences by capturing the best moments in an instant before they slip away.

Similar to the recently launched EXILIM EX-ZR1200, the EXILIM EX-10 also comes with a Time Lapse function which enables users to capture a stream of photographs easily, creating a progressive collage of changing sunset colours, passing clouds or a scenic drive that could be played back in acceleration. In addition, the EX-10 is decked with a High Speed Full High-Definition videography function and boasts Full HD video with stereo sound, enabling users to relive the special moments vividly.

Magnesium Alloy Camera Body.

The new EXILIM EX-10 is available at all authorised Casio and EXILIM retailers at the recommended price (SRP) of S$1099.00.
