Sunshine Bakeries Is "Sprouting" With Fresh, New Goodness!

Singapore's first commercial manufacturer and marketer of bakery products - Sunshine Bakeries has recently launched an all new revolutionary Sunshine Extra Fine Sprouted Wholemeal Bread.

What's so special about the bread, is that the grain used in production of this bread is taken when the seeds just start to sprout. When the grain kernel begins to sprout, that's when the nutrients gets "unlocked" and become more absorbable by our bodies.

This is the first time and Asian manufacturer has come together to work with the US Whole Grains Council to promote the important benefits of sprouted grains and at the event, Cynthia Harriman (Director of Food & Nutrition Strategies, Oldways/The Whole Grains Council), joined us through Skype to share with us more about the sprouted grains.

Grains store energy in the form of starch and the sprouting changes the starch into simpler molecules, improving the glycemic index and thus, making it easier to digest. Studies have shown that sprouting increases Folate, Vitamin Bs and C, Iron, Essential Amino Acids, while reducing the Gluten load. 

It also increases soluble fiber. helping the body maintain healthy blood sugar and cholestrol levels, reducing the risks of diabetes and heart diseases.

Just like what  Ketki Vinayachandra (Naturopath Nutritionist, Herbalist, Iridologist) shared, Singapore has getting older and fatter, with cancer rates going higher and people having strokes at 30 years old, it's time for us to care for ourselves and start eating healthier to prevent all these from happening.

I was treated to a tea-time delight using the Sunshine Extra Fine Sprouted Wholemeal Bread and was surprised to find that the bread was so much different from the usual wholegrain breads. The wholegrain bread we once knew, were so dry and I always had to "wash" it down with water, making it so a dread to eat.

But all has changed. The slice of bread presented was not only soft like white bread, it was sweet but nature. I didn't even need margarine when I have this loaf of bread in the mornings. Who says eating healthy means giving up the taste and texture?!

The delights that were served were paired so well with cranberries, banana and salmon. It's so much more fun to have your Sunshine Extra Fine Sprouted Wholemeal Bread and it's the best choice to kickstart your mornings.

In line with Sunshine Bakeries commitment to create healthier innovation in the bakery space, they have also unveiled 3 new additions to the Choc Wholemeal Cream Roll Range.

They are nicely packed individually for convenient snacking. Not only are these chocolate wholemeal cream rolls delicious, they are also not very sweet and over creamy.
