Getting Into The Core Of Business At Ben & Jerry's Chunkfest 2014

| |
Hi Huneybees,

On Saturday, I joined close to 10,000 Mooniacs at the 7th annual Ben & Jerry’s ChunkFest at The Meadows, Gardens by the Bay. It was an all day of fun, peace, love and ice cream as we all 'digged' into the 'core' business of creating joy!
Highlight for the day was the Ben & Jerry’s new Core line of ice creams - 'That’s My Jam’, 'Salted Caramel' and 'Hazed & Confused'Packed to the brim in each Ben & Jerry’s Core pint is a rich gooey core centre right down the middle that is perfectly complemented by chunk-filled ice cream and not forgetting the big chunky chunks within the tasty ice creams...

  • Hazed & ConfusedChocolate & Hazelnut Ice Creams with Fudge Chips and a Hazelnut Fudge Core
  • That’s My JamRaspberry & Chocolate Ice Creams with Fudge Chips and a Raspberry Core
  • Salted CaramelSweet Cream Ice Cream with Blonde Brownies and a Salty Caramel Core

Nothing can beat our love for Ben & Jerry's, not even the sun, not even the muddy fields!

Grab our Faircoins and off we go for our treat!
Together with the core ice creams, there were 20 ice cream flavours to choose from and several activities to do. 'Sundae School' was set up for fans to learn from the six social innovation heroes Bjorn Low (Edible Gardens), Kenneth Foo (The Yellow Ribbon Project), Jay Che (Circus in Motion), Prasoon Kumar (Billionbricks), Richardo Chua (Adrenalin) and Terence Quek (Project Happy Feet)

That was held for the first time as part of the global business competition - Join Our Core. It is Ben & Jerry's hunt for bright sparks (living in the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Switzerland & the Netherlands, France, Japan and Singapore), who are creating cool new models for sustainable business which will help make a difference in communities around the world.

There's even Tiger Radler here to cool us down. :)
Of course other than just eating ice cream for the whole day, we also had a great time taking pictures with the mascot, enjoying music from the band as well as checked out the Vermonster Challenge.

Chugging down 20 scoops of ice cream was no easy feat, ice creams were dripping and things got pretty messy as 29 teams tried to beat each other. But no one could beat Team “Thugz”  in record time of 1 min 4 secs. What did they win? One year supply of Vermonster Challenge (208 pints of ice cream)! Woohoo!

Team "Thugz" - Tristan (29), Kevin (26) Irvin (27) and Tomas (28).
And of course, not forgetting my favourite past time - SHOPPING! All it took was to exchange for the Faircoins and I could buy all the Ben & Jerry's merchandises home!

The very first ever Ben & Jerry's Social Enterprise Marketplace made its appearance and 7 of the local core change makers - Bliss Restaurant, Bettr Barista, Edible Garden City, Emmaus Training Center, Project Happy Feet, Saught & Yellow Ribbonset up stalls along the Chunkfest grounds.

There was specialty coffees, manicures sessions going on , fun activities and even charming accessories to get whilst supporting for a good cause. I've got my eye on some of the accessories from Saught, especially the Éveil Bangle. Guess I can't break away from my love for fashion eh? :P

The amazing day ended with the movie screening of Divergent and heard there was even first ever Ben & Jerry's wedding but too bad I was feeling under the weather and missed it... Congrats to the couple - Thomas & Jamie!

Thanks Ben & Jerry's!
See ya guys at Chunkfest 2015!
