A Preview To kapok Holiday Season 2013 Collection

| |
Hi Huneybees,

Previously at the launch of kapok at TANGS Orchard, I was already sold by the number of cute and unique items in store. So when I was invited to a preview of what's to come in the exciting Holiday 2013 and Spring Summer 2014 collection, I immediately agreed to it.

You won't be disappointed and I bet you guys would love it as much as me!

Seventy Eight Percent

Deliberatelcreating imperfect products might sound strange, but at Seventy Eight Percent it is just what they do! It is not defective products they are selling, it is in fact something based in  memory of Elad Klein, an artist, musician and designer who died in a kayak accident in Hong Kong in 2006.

Elad wrote a design manifest that calls for designers to embed intentional flaws in their designs, thus creating products that are functionally imperfect. The idea was to force the users to find new ways for using daily objects and to adjust their habits in order to compensate for the product's flaw. Elad figured out that 78% is the right amount of perfection. More than that would not create the desired effect and less than that would result in a useless product. It is a way of life, an attitude, embrace the beauty and merits of imperfection, both spontaneous and calculated.

So, adapting on that theory, Shai Levy, an award-winning designer who have years of experience specializing in outdoor bags, adapted the performance and functional qualities of outdoor gear to the urban environment. The brand first launched in 2009, soon became one of Asia’s noteworthy emerging designer brands.

The bags are not only functional, they are also sturdy for your daily use. Made from quality denim sourced in Japan and Leather from Tuscany, you know you are getting nothing flawed...

Carré Royal

Paris-based accessories brand Carré Royal specialises in beautifully crafted leather goods, made from the best French and European leather. Carré Royal’s origins date back to the 1950s when the brand founded their first workshop in south-west France, they used to manufacture bags for a high end brand). Today, their designs have evolved to suit the needs of the modern day travellers in an offering of bright and cheerful dyes and sleek finishes.

The products are usually made with cowhide and vegetable-tanned leather, but for the collection seen below - Bélinguède, it is made from the softest high-class lambskin leather produced in France. I can definitely see fashionistas holding each bag during fashion weeks. It's so easy to match and will glam up any outfit you are in.

Crash Baggage

Don't you always get such heartaches when your baggage gets scratched or dented the moment it comes out the luggage belt?

Well, fret not. Now with Crash Baggage, each piece comes pre-damaged like it’s already been tossed around a few times by airport personal. With 6 colours to choose from, you can simply "Handle Without Care!". You can totally enjoy your holiday,  feel relaxed and at the same time unique while travelling.

The bags are made from 100% sustainable plastic and you do not have to fear losing your luggage with the FOLLOW MY BAG system lined within the bags. Your personal details and data are linked to a personal identification code (editable by you any time, any place), that allows you to track and find your luggage. You simply don't have to worry about your luggage ~

Sandqvist

The Swedish bag brand Sandqvist was founded in 2004 by Anton Sandqvist when he made his first bag on an old industrial sewing machine. Sandqvist's bags are uncomplicated and beautiful, with a clear Swedish heritage. Features such as carefully selected and durable materials, minutely worked details and an everyday functionality to make a bag great for both urban city life and a day trip into the wild.

Mismo

Firmly based in the Danish design tradition and appreciation for the values of classic craftsmanship, Mismo unites natural materials with simple yet refined details to create products of true style. Leather constitutes the backbone of Mismo design and the fabrics are on par with some of the branded bags out there. It is priced at a fraction of that and you get the same kind of quality...

Behind Mismo's products is the philosophy that real luxury arises from the choices made, representing straightforward, functional and durable design, it showcases only what is strictly necessary - nothing more, nothing less. Whether Mismo is in your hand or your pocket, it's always on the move, protecting your valuable personal belongings fashionably.

Pijama

Call me bias, but I have taken special liking for this colourful collection of softcases made in Milano - Pijama.

Since 2006. Pijama is a brand of scratch-proof soft cases of computers, iphones, ipads and other precious everyday objects, designed for people who love and hate technology, bored of anonymous folders. The soft and resistant neoprene material, combined with a selection of fabrics, like dandy wool and classic tweeds, or vintage hand printed cotton not only protect, will also style up your gadgets.

For the cyclists, they also have a collection in collaboration with Iride Fixed Modena (a bunch of cyclists from Italy that build and sell bikes directly from Modena). Comprising of roll-up, seat pockets and pants saver, it will be brightening up your bikes while giving you comfort.

The seat pocket allows you to put some tools for tuning your bike or even store your phone!

The holiday collection sees a designer oriented collection that focused on the quality craftsmanship by mixing blandness and creativity it's time to plan for a holiday trip...

kapok holiday season 2013 will be available from end of October 2013.
