My First Hand Experience With Horse Racing At The Singapore Airlines International Cup 2015

| |
Hi Huneybees,

On 17th May 2015, all major regional networks such as Bloomberg, Fox Sports Asia, Reuters and SNTV pointed their cameras to Singapore Turf Club to cover the much anticipated International Group 1 races, the Singapore Airlines International Cup and the KrisFlyer International Sprint, and Huney'Z World has the privilege, thanks to Hpility.sg, to witness the million dollar horse race for the very first time!

Although I always wanted to experience the excitement of watching a horse race, I didn't really make any effect to do so at Singapore Turf Club until recently when my friend Hong Peng extended the invitation to the SIA Cup 2015.

Located at Kranji, not far from where I work actually, the Singapore Racecourse was officially opened by Singapore then President SR Nathan on 4th March 2000.

Dressed in smart causal, myself with other media guests were ushered to the MARQUEE to enjoy delicious food and drinks, complimentary of Turf Club, while having the close proximity to catch the pulsating racing action. I even had the chance to meet the Turf Belles up close!

The main events - Singapore KrisFlyer International Sprint and Singapore Airlines International Cup 2015 - started off with much fun-fare with colourfully dressed dancers, stilt walkers carrying fireworks, lion and dragon dancers entertaining over 13,000 punters, guests, VIPs and media.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, were the lovely air stewardesses, dressed in the distinctive "Sarong Kebaya" uniform from Singapore Airlines, always posing elegantly in front of snapping cameras!

I was delighted to have a chance to catch the horses and their respective jockeys up close when they were paraded in front of the cheering crowd before the start of the race.

"Aerovelocity" the pre-race favorite from Hong Kong, did not disappoint everyone by winning the Singapore KrisFlyer International Sprint and its SGD$1 million prize money.

DPM Teo Chee Hean was the guest of honor at the Singapore Airlines International Cup 2015 and he presented to trophies to the winners - owner, trainer and jockey of "Dan Excel" - which made history the night by becoming the only horse, since the inauguration of this race, to have defended the title after winning it in 2014!

After this extraordinary experience, I am definitely looking forward to Singapore Airlines International Cup 2016! See you soon Singapore Turf Club!!
