Hi Huneybees,
It's time to kick off those shoes and walk barefooted with the Bare Your Sole 2015 happening this weekend!
Back for the seventh year on Saturday, 30 May 2015, the Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s annual barefoot walkathon has chosen to hold it at Sentosa Island this time round. Set along Palawan Beach, the first-of-its-kind walk is happening from 8am to 12pm.
Have you gotten your tickets already? Though registration has already closed, I bet it will be fun with activities to attend whilst you support the cause, cheer the participants on. There will also be lots of photography opportunity for you with the Mr. Lim Nghee Huat and Mr. Yong Yuen Chen (ultra-marathoners will be kicking off their 45th GO50 run at the event) leading the Bare Your Sole Flag-off.
There will also be some special appearances by the Habitat Champions and personalities walking barefoot:
Of course, indulge in the fringe activities like the high elements course with flying fox and rock-climbing wall, Habitat Village and Kids’ Corner. Don't miss out on the entertaining martial arts demonstrations and musical performances and the an array of tasty food and beverage options!
About Bare Your Sole
Bringing together people from all walks of life to raise awareness for the plight of a large number of people living in poverty without the ability to afford basic amenities, such as shelter or footwear. Funds raised from the 2km and 4km barefoot charity walkathon supports Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s Project HomeWorks programme, which is a local initiative aimed at improving the living conditions of the elderly, the sick and the physically challenged living in one-room flats in Singapore. Over S$300,000 was raised from last year’s edition of Bare Your Sole, where more than 5,000 participants turned up to show their support.
About Habitat for Humanity Singapore
Habitat for Humanity Singapore is a Christian non-profit housing organisation, working for people of all backgrounds regardless of their race, language or religion. Since its inception in 2004, Habitat Singapore seeks to eliminate poverty housing worldwide by working alongside homeowners to build simple, decent houses. Anchored by the vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live, Habitat Singapore has continually mobilised volunteers under its Global Village programme for building projects and disaster response all over the world, including China, Mongolia and India.
Locally, Habitat Singapore started Project HomeWorks, a programme that seeks to improve the living conditions, safety and sanitation of the growing number of vulnerable elderly across the island. Habitat Singapore has mobilised thousands of volunteers to clean-up and furnish the homes of these elderly since 2006.
