Wait! That's Dessert by Cake Avenue?!

Hi Huneybees,

My mummy always say don't play with food, but what I'm gona introduce to you will definitely make you break all those rules and get your mind blown far far away! It's the latest buzz, it's colourful and playful and what you see may not be what you think it is!

Birthed by Cake Avenue’s head pastry Chef E.T. Yew, 35, a cheeky dessert menu of 6 American diner food is here to play on your senses and shows off his creativity, playfulness and craftsmanship as an accomplished patissier. Cake Avenue was founded by Natalie and Chuang Sheng Wong in 2000 and in line with its 17th anniversary, the shop has launched these new dessert items to celebrate its milestone year.

“Cake Avenue has always been a place where customers can come to have fun with their desserts. We’ve made birthday cakes that were designed to look like Bak Chor Mee, and anniversary cakes that look like branded bags…your eyes see one thing, yet your taste buds register another." --- Chef E.T. Yew

These may look like your usual run-of-the-mill dishes like burger sliders with fries, but look closely, they are desserts! Made to look like but taste totally a world difference. Let me introduce them to you one by one...

Alphabet Soup (S$8.90)

Don't this bowl just reminds you of the Campbell's tomato ABC macaroni soup you used to have as a child; picking out the letters trying to form words with?

Well, this dessert almost got me doing that as I dug in, only to find a layer of sweet milk agar and rose jelly on top of a delicious creamy lychee mousse with chunks of lychee and raspberry. I wasn't ready to share this refreshing summer ready dessert and definitely will be back for seconds.

Diner Sliders & Fries (S$15.90)

Served cold, 2 ‘Sliders’ with Dark Chocolate Ice Cream ‘patties’ between Vanilla Cake Buns comes with Cake Fries that taste like rusk biscuits. So much details have been put into consideration, there's even Passion Fruit ‘Mustard’ and Raspberry ‘Ketchup’ layered within like a real burger, pairing the sweetness of the ice cream with the sourness of these fruits to make the perfect dessert.

Choose the amount of sauce by squeezing them on your Cake Fries and if you want more, the Cake Fries are also available on its own for S$8.90.

The Great Con Dog (S$8.90)

Playing the pun on the Carnival favourite - The Corn Dog, comes Cake Avenue's rendition of warm sweet corn custard encased in a crunchy breaded exterior.

Have it whilst it's still warm and pair every bite with the side scoop of the pairing Vanilla Ice Cream with fresh Strawberries for that tantalizing play on your tongue.

Nachos Dulces (S$12.90)

Dessert is meant to be shared with loved ones and this is also made so with the Nachos Dulces, a twist to the tex mex favourite that is good for a couple or 2 BFFs. The dish consists of crispy Flatbread Nachos, topped with Chocolate Mousse 'refried beans', Strawberry Compote 'salsa', Julienned Peach 'cheese' and Pistachio Ice Cream 'guacamole'. I'm definitely liking this version of nachos whilst catching my favourite NetFlix movie, you hvae got to try it!

Lava Pops (S$8.90)

Even the popular crunchy meatballs get a cakepop twist as meatball-sized portions of warm red velvet cake is wrapped with a crunchy breaded exterior. I can't resist popping these guys into my mouth, another plate please! ;P

One bite and your mouth will be filled with molten Vanilla Cream Cheese Filling.

Unicorn Drinks (S$7.90)

UNICORN LOVERS! Don't miss this super adorable and yummylicious milkshakes! Each embellished with a Meringue Unicorn Horn and Marshmallow Ears, there are 3 flavours to choose from - Blush Unicorn (Strawberry Ice Cream blended with milk) , Matcha Unicorn (Vanilla Ice Cream blended with Matcha Powder and milk) and Sunshine Unicorn (Vanilla Ice Cream blended with Mango Puree and milk).
