Timberland Celebrates Its 40 Years With The Workshop At Vivocity

| |
Hi Huneybees,

Timberland® recently held The Workshop to commemorate its 40th anniversary at VivoCity. Depicted as the modern day version of the original Timberland® Factorythe event pays tribute to Timberland’s heritage of quality craftsmanship while also exploring interpretations of craftsmanship by the millennial generation of today as well as celebrating the “Best Then, Better Now” of the brand.
The event was attended by over 100 guests, including members of the media, fashion stylists and guests of Timberland® Singapore. Well-known personalities including stage thespian - Adrian Pang, television host - Oli Pettigrew, award winning local filmmaker - Royston Tan, Y.E.S 933 DJ - Xie Jia Fa, fashion director - Daniel Boey as well as up and coming actor - Xu Bin were amongst the invited guests.

At the event, not only were we treated to a fashion show, the guests were also given a chance to step into the world of 3 local artisans and craftsmen - Mark Ong from the international cult creative label SBTG (Sabotage), Tyrwhitt General Company and accomplished artist Khor Tuck Kuan

Symbolizing peace and love, the Project Soar was a partnership of Timberland and Christian Outreach to the Handicapped (COH), with Khor Tuck Kuan conceptualizing the cutting out of plastic doves from recycled milk bottles. It is an art installation made with love and guests could also write their well wishes to "soar" with the doves...

Roystan Tan posing with his well-wishes.
Other than that, guests were able to partake in activities involving traditional craft-making such as silk-screening and leather stamping, bringing home their very own recycle bag and leather tags...

Mark Ong also gave a live demonstration by drawing the finishing touches of his design on a pair of specially commission Yellow Boots, I also got my very own Yellow Boot drawn by the artists, which you might have already seen it on my Instagram....

The artists have came up with 4 designs, it took me awhile to decide, but I chose the trees. Nothing beats hiking in nature everyday yeah?

That's the miniature thumbdrive. Cute right?!
Hosted by Travel/TV host Henry Golding, the upbeat crowd was introduced to Timberland’s storied past and future plans by Ms. Olga Wu, Timberland’s General Manager of Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. Sharing the history of the iconic Yellow Boot and on the brand’s evolution from a New England boot maker to global leader in stylish and sustainable fashion, she also introduced Timberland’s current Best Then Better Now Campaign which incorporates the Style, Performance and Green (SPG) principle which the brand uses in all aspects of its products and environmental values.
Valuable fashion tips were then given by appointed “Style Foreman”, style icon Lionnel Lim, on how to complement and customise Timberland® boots to develop one’s own unique style. The highly anticipated fashion show was next where models walked down on a “grass” runway in Timberland® latest Fall/Winter 2013 Collection. Clad in stylish leather and outdoor jackets, sweaters and parkas, the outfits were complemented with classic Timberland® footwear, showcasing a blend of urban sophistication and rugged outdoor appeal.
