Hi Huneybees,
Yesterday, saw the collaboration between EZ-Link Pte Ltd, Singapore’s largest issuer of CEPAS-compliant cards and EasyCard Corporation, Taiwan’s contactless smart card system operator. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to jointly develop a cross border multifunctional contactless card and an interoperable smart card systems platform to facilitate greater tourism and business travelling between Singapore and Taiwan.
In 2013, Singapore welcomed about 400,000 visitors from Taiwan, while Taiwan received approximately 360,000 tourists from Singapore, according to Taiwan’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications. To date, EZ-Link and EasyCard Corporation have issued 17 million CEPAS ez-link cards and 45 million pieces of EasyCard respectively in Singapore and Taiwan.
In addition to contributing to the development of the multiple stored-value card and an inter-operable platform, EZ-Link will also share its pioneer contactless e-ticketing technology with EasyCard Corporation under the MOU, with the goal of offering electronic tickets to popular tourist attractions to visitors between Singapore and Taiwan.
Currently, with the Singapore Tourist Pass Plus, besides enabling visitors to Singapore to zip around conveniently in its public transportation network, EZ-Link has also integrated rides and tours in the Pass for visitors to enjoy Singapore’s sights and sounds.
