Day 4 of FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013 - Burkman Bros, Uomo Collezioni, Surrender

Hi Huneybees,

On Saturday, not only did G-Dragon did a mini showcase at FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013, 4 menswear labels were also presented with G-Dragon sitting in as VIP for one.

The day kickstarted with the show by Burkman Bros, a 2010 nominess for the GQ/CFDA Best New Menswear Designer in America AwardOriginally from Canada, Doug and Ben Burkman take their inspiration from their travels to far-flung countries. For this Spring/Summer 2014 collection, they were inspired by their trip to Thailand, casual wear for the men with a choice of prints and motifs and bright and pastel colours. Floral prints with rope sandals were an inspiration of the Thai farmers and not to mention tha shades and bags for easy travelling as well!

Alex Minsky, a former marine (who lost his right leg in Afghanistan after his truck ran over an explosive) turned model, was the very first model to start the shows. He was also walking for Surrender and Songzio that night. Everyone applauded as he walked past, but all I could say is his tattoos and amazingly packed body was definitely a yummy sight.

Next, Uomo Collezioni presented a range of elegant, formal wear for men. The male models preened and looked very sharp in their suits with clean structured lines and gorgeous luxe materials like cashmeres, wools, and silks. The show closed with three models wearing beautiful overcoats with collars trimmed in a variety of rich furs. Travelling businessmen would definitely be looking suave for their trips!

The third show was by Surrender, the multi-label store presented six labels; Arts & Science, Christian Dada, En Noir, Maison Martin Margiela, Neighbourhood, Nanamica; and 29 exits, the ensembles were quietly stylish and the male audience were treated to a master class of mixing and matching. At the end, when the Alex Minsky and the male models stormed down the runway in black and fleshing their tattoos, I swear everyone could feel as those the Avengers were there!

For the last and final show for the night, the highly anticipated South Korean label, Songzio, brought us into his mystical forest. A collection of jackets with cropped sleeves, roomy culottes, djellabas, scarves, pedal pushers and elongated vests may be staples of a woman's wardrobe, but with Songzios pieces, they show real men do wear and can wear these styles without looking unmanly. The unique print of the shiny materials with black was as though the tree barks, giving it a sense of breaking through tradition....

Songzio
Before I left the Marina Bay Sands, I even caught up with Alex Minsky and TV Personality/Host - Jeannie Mai. Can't wait for the Haute Couture nights!

Was dressed in DEPRESSION Panda top, G-Shock watch and spiked leather rings that day.
