AFF 2013 - PARCO next NEXT

| |
Hi Huneybees,

It was always a fun to attend a local designer's show and last week, it was full house at the Parco next NEXT show. With surprises like beatboxing, burlesque dancing, rollerblading girls, the whole show was all about fun and swag, not a moment break!

Presenting the Spring / Summer 2013 collections of eight Singapore labels from the  2012/2013 batch of designers at Parco next NEXT, it was all suitable for our hot, hot weather...

Rêvasseur

Having influences from her stay in Japan and New York, designer Gilda Su has always presented a certain quirkiness in her designs and it was always fun to see her collections. This time, it was no different.
Being inspired by the New York’s Fleet Week, the whole collection - Ships Ahoy!, was nautical inspired and there was even a sense of sexiness too!  I love some of the head pieces (sailor caps) too, bet alot will be saying 'Aye Aye Captain' too!

The looks are pretty wearable,  for hot summer weekends or for that cruise trip you've been planning for and they can go from day to night easily.

Coupé-Cousu

The Spring / Summer 2013 collection brings you across the universe,  touching the stars and bringing the starry gold dust back with you.  Tailored shirts, well-fitted pants and clean lines keep the look smart, while the gold glitter and trimmings gives it a little disco-fever twist, just nice for you to shine for the night.

kaehana

Hana is all about enbracing those lady curves, showing that fashion is not just for the skinny bones. Presenting the first piece herself on the runway, she also included her fans and friends to model her season's collection - Ride The Winds.

She has always been bold in using her colours and playing with prints, so with this collection, she had integrated  the camouflage patterns with a touch of the Orient - phoenix motifs and zebra stripes. Paired with bold, strong, handmade woven accessories by Foreword Labels, you will definitely be strutting your inner Wonder Woman stuff!

20:TWOTHREE

This brand is all about  androgynous dressing, so to present that, they had the models sent down the runway in plastic masks, which I was telling my friend, definitely a statement and I wana get  my hands on them...
It's mainly a monochrome collection and it had that minimalistic beauty, yet not forgetting versatility, with pieces that can be worn several ways. Totally digging the collection.

WSDM

Who says that men have to be in white t-shirts and jeans? WSDM presented pastels, bright neons and even polka dots in their Spring Summer 2013 collection, totally wearable pieces for the new-age metrosexuals, which definitely make the ladies turn heads!

Lion Earl

Fashion + Architecture = Structured Body Contouring Collection

This 3rd Lion Earl collection never continues skin tight, body contouring dresses. Sexy killer dresses for the lady in you and this time, drawing inspirations from science fiction movie - TRON, Lion Earl has a added sense of swag in this collection - "Moon Crust"

Sleek racer lines on bandage dresses, and dramatic pleated peplum with graphic print tights were all present in this collection and their final look, with the fake mohawk model working that see through dress is simply how a heroine would look if she was attending a dinner function.

evenodd

Evenodd presented alot of embelished pieces, cleverly placed studs, dots and hmmm, hot shorts.....
For the first time, the designer - Samuel also had pieces for the ladies.

Mash-Up

As always, they are a fun-loving bunch and their runway show was no exception. Bringing back Freddy the beatboxer and hot babes spotting their streetwear rollerbladed down the runway, cheering the crowd on, as an opening act.

With bright tribal prints, pop culture influence and my favourite neon palettes, it's hard not to be the center of attention everywhere you go. It's interesting that they have also integrated bike chains and circuit boards as the accessories for the models.

Kudos to Singapore designers and performers.
