Studio Ghibli Fans, This Is NOT a Drill! 🎶✨
The Music of STUDIO GHIBLI – Original Singers Symphony is coming to Singapore for the first time ever on 11 June 2025, and I am losing my mind!! If you're a fellow Ghibli fan (which you probably are if you're reading this), this will be one of the most magical events of the year.
This isn’t just any Ghibli concert — it's a one-night-only performance at The Star Theatre, featuring the original singers and voice talents from the actual movies we grew up watching and sobbing over. And yes, they’ll be backed by a live orchestra from Japan!
Here’s who you can expect to see live:
- Yoshikazu Mera – the hauntingly beautiful voice from Princess Mononoke
- Sumi Shimamoto – the legendary voice actress from Nausicaä, Totoro, The Castle of Cagliostro
- Azumi Inoue – the angelic voice behind Laputa and Totoro
- Yuyu – Azumi’s daughter and rising star who’s carrying on the legacy with her own fresh charm
They’ll be singing all the classics — Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke... the full nostalgic lineup 🥺✨
Even better? The singers will be accompanied by the Tokyo Asia Orchestra, a 17-piece ensemble led by Takeshi Hashima, who’s known for conducting Ghibli concerts around the world. Think of soaring symphonic arrangements layered with the original vocals — it’s going to be spine-tingling.
