Hi Huneybees,
This September, Celestial Movies, the biggest 24-hour Chinese movie service in Asia and beyond, will bring you its first and exclusive broadcast of the big-budget Korean action drama HERO!
Me and a selected group of media were invited to attend a private screening of the drama at The Screening Room. We were treated to a spread of food and took photos with two models against a backdrop of a HERO poster with props.
With the first two episodes incurring a hefty US$1 million production budget, HERO premiered as the number one programme in its timeslot among all cable channels in Korea in March 2012. This ten-episode Korean action drama series is set in a fictional future where South Korea has gone bankrupt and its cities are crime-ridden and corrupt.
Yang Dong Keun played Kim Heuk Chul as the lead actor in HERO and Han Chae Ah played Yoon Ih-Ohn as the lead actress in HERO.

Han Chae Ah plays Ih-Ohn who saved Heuk Chul from the gangsters. |
HERO centers on a bad boy by the name of Heuk Chul (award-winning actor Yang Dong Geun) who is the son of the mayor of one of these crime-ridden cities. When Heuk Chul gets caught in the middle of a police sting, he ends up taking a bullet fired at the beautiful detective Ih-Ohn (Han Chae Ah). The serious injury causes Kim to fall into a coma and the only way to save him is to inject him with untested nanotechnology.

Heuk Chul was pronounced dead after getting shot. |
Upon recovering from his near-death experience, Heuk Chul discovers that he possesses the superhuman ability to heal himself and regenerate. In the meantime, the dark truths of corruption that plagues the city begin to unfold before his eyes. Realizing the truth, Heuk Chul decides to use this newfound ability to fight against evil and make things right in this chaotic world.

“Celestial Movies aims to bring the biggest stars and the biggest productions to our audience so we are thrilled to be bringing two big special events for our viewers in September. With HERO, the big budget nature of this production makes it feel more filmic than your typical Korean drama. I think our viewers are in for a treat this September with the premiere of an award-winning movie.” --- Ofanny Choi, Executive Vice President, TV Networks, Celestial Tiger Entertainment

Revolving around family ties and politics, corruption is imminent. Set in a futuristic background, it was up to the HERO to get rid of the evil. The lead actor was not your typical suave, muscular, Superman type of Hero, but very much an average looking guy. With his occassional black humor lightening the mood of the drama, it is definitely a refreshing approach to the non stop action packed hero drama. Go on a journey of never-ending struggle between good and evil, breaking through the layers of mystery of cracking the evil with HERO.
Premiering exclusively on Celestial Movies on the 3rd of September and airing at 8pm every weekday (Mon-Fri), with an encore telecast at 10:45pm on SingTel mio TV channel 52 and Starhub Cable TV channel 868, HERO will top your list of the latest must-watch-dramas. Starhub subscribers who prefer watching marathon shows can also rejoice, as there will be two exclusive HERO marathons on the 9th and 16th of September, featuring episodes 1 through 5 and 6 through 10 respectively. However, only the HERO marathon on the 9th of September will be free for Starhub subscribers. Celestial Movies will also be made free for viewing from the 8th to the 10th of September.
