Let's have some YUMI!

Hi Huneybees,

It's nearing the end of the year and it's a great time for gathering and celebration. Singapore-based F&B startup, The Kettle Gourmet has been widely loved for its popcorn and recently there's a new baby!

Say hi to YUMI - A new corn snack created by the founder and CEO of The Kettle Gourmet - Zac Chua. Wanting to explore the possibilities of snacks beyond popcorn, Zac drew upon fond memories of childhood snacks. The recollection of the cornsticks he used to enjoy in Primary school sparked the inspiration for YUMI.

“In the bustle through our busy days, it is important to take a break and smell the roses. A good snack and the simple joys in life can bring people together. As life returns to normal, I wish to see people enjoy YUMI together as a snack and as the ideal gift to their loved ones.” --- Zac Chua, Founder and CEO of The Kettle Gourmet

YUMI stems from a name of Japanese origin that means reason, cause, friend, or beautiful. The pronunciation of YUMI also borrows from the Mandarin character, “玉米” which translates back to corn.

YUMI is available in 3 flavours - Original, Cheese, and Chicken; it is vegetarian friendly, baked instead of being fried and the corn used is non-GMO.

My favourite is the Original, which has a very strong corn taste and I can never stop at just one stick of it. It really brings back the childhood snack flavour that I used to nibble on during recess time and the tube packaging makes it so much easy to eat without having to dig into the usual bag designs that tend to get all the snack dust all over my hands.

A little note though, all 3 flavours are on the salty side, with the Chicken one I find the most. I tend to reach out for a drink after having just one piece. If you are having a party or gathering with friends, I would suggest cutting or breaking each tube of YUMI into smaller chunks so that everyone can try each flavour.

Speaking of parties, YUMI made a good snack during the Halloween season. We went trick or treating with them and it was a hot favourite amongst the kids. I think they will make a good goodie bag filler during the festive season too ~

YUMI retails at a pack of 20 sticks for $5.90 or 6 packs for $35. You can get YUMI on The Kettle Gourmet website as well as in leading physical and online outlets such as Fairprice Finest, Lazada, Shopee, Grabfood, FoodPanda, Redmart, and Qoo10.
