Hi Huneybees,
AVEDA, a leader in high-performance botanical beauty products and salon professional education, recently organized a catwalk event - Catwalk for Water for the first time in Singapore to raise funds to support clean water projects all over the world. They are committed to raising $5 million through its global network in April 2013 for clean water.
Earth Month at AVEDA is an annual fundraising campaign that relies on the ingenuity and generosity of AVEDA beauty professionals, customers and corporate employees in more than 30 countries. The campaign has raised more than $26 million for environmental causes since its inception in 1999, Of which, more than $20 million have been directed to support hundreds of clean water projects on six continents since 2007.
In some developing countries where clean water is rare and people have to walk 6km to get water that may not be healthy, more than 4,000 children die from water-borne illness daily. You can do your part by purchasing the Aveda Light the Way Candles and the full proceeds of the Light The Way candle ($35) will go to the non-profit organization - Global Greengrants Fund, to fund clean water projects all over the world as well as to underprivileged children in Singapore.
These beautiful candles were designed by students of the Association School in Madagascar, and by purchasing one of the Aveda Light The Way Candles, you could be providing those students a better life.
The event was an eye-opener with AVEDA'S global artists from prestigious salons such Shunji Matsuo, Kelture, Jeric and Team Salon, doing ‘live’ hair presentation of AVEDA Spring/Summer 2013 hair colour collection and top stylists from prestigious local Aveda salons to perform ‘live’ with local interpretation of the S/S hair colours lookbook. And I was backstage before the show began to catch up with the hairstylists...
Before I headed backstage, I was already treated to a AVEDA express hair makeover. The hairstylist helped me accentuate my curls more with the "Be Curly" products and I'm loving it.
This is the stage where the show will be happening, but before all that, here's a backstage access on what are the looks (in the making) created by the hairstylists.
It was a war behind the scenes and I managed to grab a few to speak to and get the story behind their inspirations First up is Team Salon.
The models' are are not ready yet, but between the mess, you can see the colour of the hair (using AVEDA dyes) and I'm loving the fishtail braiding on the girl below.
Then it's on to Shunji Matsuo. I find their inspiration very interesting. It's all taken from nature and not deviating from the theme, they kept the hairstyle clean and sleek.
This hairstyle is inspired by the flowers in the garden.
I personally like this hairstyle. It's inspired by moss and stones and seriously I'm loving the look on the model, she rocks it right?
This last look by Shunji Matsuo is inspired by honey. The different shiny tones of gold and brown reflecting the honey when being poured out is very detailed. Too bad the model's hair is still not ready to be let down.
And lastly, the looks from Jeric. I was lucky to find Jeric himself at the backstage and he spoke about his ideas behind the looks The most interesting one would have to be Mt. Fuji lookalike hairstyle. He created an ombre effect on the model's hair and painstakingly took him and his assistant a very long time to get the hair volumized.
All the models would also be dressed in clothings by TANGS for the catwalk that night.
So, do stretch a helping hand to those in need and help by not polluting the water anymore!
AVEDA is available at TANGS Beauty, TANGS Orchard L1 and do your part by purchasing one of the Aveda Light The Way Candles.
