Casio G-Shock opens their very 1st concept store at Plaza Singapura, as part of the celebration of G-Shock's 30th Anniversary. The concept store aptly named "G-Shock", differs from other Casio G-Factory stores, as it is dedicated to house only watches under G-Shock and its sister brand, Baby-G.
Designed to immerse shoppers in a holistic experience of the G-Shock brand identity of "Absolute Toughness", the new G-Shock concept store features a black corrugated metal exterior, rigid concrete blocks that line the walls and brown wood flooring to form a rugged and industrial atelier.
At the opening that day, Sheikh Haikel was there to host as well as a speech by Mr Watanabe Shunichi (Managing Director of Casio Singapore Pte Ltd) was made.
In collaboration of the G-Shock concept store opening, Ace of Spades (DJs Andrew T, Dave Does, Stanley, T.T, Hapa & N’fa) together with The Killer Gerbil designed 2 limited edition G-Shock watches and were unveiled at the opening ceremony.
The watch by AOS (G-Shock X AOS G-8900A) is basically white and since they are all DJs, this is a watch for clubbing! Clubs are typically dark, thus the white watch that definitely will stand out. Also, the strap has sound wave motif that resonates the power of music, expressing the beats on a DJ deck and this is definitely a watch that represents the group’s passion for their profession.
The next one if my favourite of the 2 and thanks to G-Shock I am the proud owner of the watch!
The Killer Gerbil’s watch (G-Shock X The Killer Gerbil GD-100), has the signature Killer Gerbil logo and on both sides of the dial and on top of the the black belt is the Killer Gerbil! Definitely a super signature Killer Gerbil watch and fans of Killer Gerbil like me will love to "show off" in this watch!
Both G-Shock X AOS G-8900A &
G-Shock X The Killer Gerbil GD-100
watches retail at $209.00 each and are sold exclusively at the G-Shock concept store.
After the unveiling ceremony, DJ Andrew T, Stanley and Dave Does took on the DJ console and performed their individual signature club pieces, accompanied with Sheikh Haikel's rapping, for a moment, the guests were clubbing to the beats!
Killer Gerbil also did a live graffiti on the 2 oil cans right in the front of the store.
The evening concluded with a fashion show of streetwear label, Flesh Imp, and its sister brand, FEMMEX. The models had G-Shock and Baby-G watches on them to match their outfits and the watches were displayed in a few variety of themes such as “Toughness” and “Sporty”.
Both the Managing Director of Casio Singapore Pte Ltd, Mr Watanabe Shunichi, and General Manager of Casio Singapore Timepiece Division, Mr Sezai Hiroyuki posing with the models. |
Don’t forget to check out those fiery red G-Shock’s 30th Anniversary limited edition watches too! I'm very tempted to get one!
