Singapore Comic Con 2023: Highlights, Fan Moments, and My Experience

| |
Hi Huneybees,

This year's Singapore Comic Con (SGCC) 2023 was an absolute blast! My wallet took a hit, but it was worth exploring all the exciting new games and toys o display.

Mighty Jaxx, Singapore’s homegrown toy company, stole the show with the largest booth and exclusive event releases, including Mr. Sudsy (Hunted Edition) by Jason Freeny, Disney 100: Mickey Mouse Transformation (Wonder Edition), and ROBBi COLORLAND

I was thrilled to meet the legendary Jason Freeny in person and even scored his autograph—I’ve always been a fan of his dissected toy designs.

Mighty Jaxx also showcased their new Syndicats: Nyakuza line, a collaboration with ASEAN artists featuring polystone art toys with unique designs. Any fellow cat enthusiasts here?

Every year at Singapore Comic Con, my highlight is meeting my all-time favorite artist, Simone Legno of Tokidoki. It’s a tradition for me to get his autograph, snap a photo with him, and of course, stock up on Tokidoki merch. His unique art style and creativity never fail to inspire, and I love supporting his work!

Ending the year with a bang at the Cybertron Fest, a haven for Transformers enthusiasts, held at Hall B2! This event showcases a plethora of Transformers attractions, including an exclusive first look at the Hasbro Transformers Generations HasLab Deathsaurus in Asia and a global preview of the Fall 2024 Transformers Legacy Titan class figure.

Highlights like the Robosen Auto-Converting Bots (Optimus Prime and Grimlock), the debut of XM Studios' Optimus Primal statue, and an extensive Transformers merchandise display featuring licensed partners like Mighty Jaxx, Pop Mart, OSIM, and more.

I even got to try out repainting a Bumblebee figurine, adding details to it, making it pop even more. It's always nice to new some new skill. The booth was crowded with fans,  truly a celebration that proves there’s “More Than Meets the Eye.”

My hubby was on cloud nine at the Magic: The Gathering booth! He spent ages immersed in playing new cards and bonding with like-minded fans. As a former avid player, the booth reignited his enthusiasm for the game.

The standout for me was the Doctor Who collaboration set, which caught my eye as a fan of the series. It even inspired me to give the game a shot! Although I found the rules a bit overwhelming to grasp in a short time, it was a fascinating introduction to the world of Magic, and I appreciated the blend of fandoms.

Another standout at the event was the Infinity Studios booth. Their lifelike figurines were absolutely breathtaking, and I couldn’t resist snapping shots with Batman, Superman, and even Avatar characters—it felt like stepping into a superhero gathering! The attention to detail was incredible, down to tiny freckles on their skin. While these pieces are undeniably impressive, I’d hesitate to display them at home—too realistic for a scaredy-cat like me!

Go Go Power Rangers!

Comic cons are my happy place! I love connecting with like-minded fans and artists, exchanging tips and the latest news, and, of course, expanding my beloved toy collection. While the event can be physically exhausting, it’s my ultimate way of rewarding myself for a year of hard work. I’m already excited to see what surprises are in store for next year’s SGCC! Here's ending the post with all the amazing cosplayers I met through the convention.

The little ones are the cutest ~~~
