Hi Huneybees,

Dynasty Travel Singapore’s leading travel agency established in 1978, has recently done a facelift on its iconic office at 35 New Bridge Road and is back with a brand new "World X" experience.

With a new logo and look, the company is armed with a new sustainable and experiential travel-led business model.  Together with a more stylish font type, the new logo set is in line with Dynasty Travel’s transformation into a contemporary travel agency that appeals to global travelers looking for unique experiences not easily found at the click of a mouse.

Stepping into the First Floor Lounge, one can find a cozy lounge-like space that will allow travelers to drop by for a cup of tea cultivated by famed tea estates or sit down and read an array of travel books - including a ‘book of the month’ recommendation that will be made available.

Dynasty Travel will also be hosting a World Culture Series of regular immersive events intended to celebrate and promote global cultures and heritage, such as Japanese traditional flower arrangement lessons, South African wine tasting, and Panamanian cuisine, among others

An upcoming event taking place on 21 May 2022 is the World Culture Series: Panama, which will be joined by Ambassador Rodrigo Chiari, Panamanian ex-diplomat, together with local celebrity Zheng Wanling. The couple will share their experiences and help future travellers discover a cultural melting pot unique to the Isthmus. Head to the website for more information on event programming.

To mark this milestone, Dynasty Travel will also announce their biggest project yet: a 19-day expedition to Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands chartered exclusively for their clients in November 2023. As the first and only travel agency in Southeast Asia to charter expedition ships to Antarctica, Dynasty Travel's clients will have the opportunity to traverse passages made famous by the great Sir Ernest Shackleton 100 years ago.

Departing from Ushuaia in Argentina on board a brand-new expedition ship, travelers will cross the mighty Drake Passage to the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctica Peninsula, before paying a visit to the fascinating Falkland Islands, making Zodiac landings at penguin rookeries, pristine beaches, and fascinating lookouts along the way.

More information can be found on their refreshed facelift too; with a new layout that puts the emphasis on travel ideas and inspirations. In line with the shift towards sustainable travel, clients will have access to a new Dynasty Travel app that will, amongst other things, deliver interactive travel itineraries with live updates and travelogue features, and in-app chat with a concierge team for inquiries and on-trip support.

So, ready your passports and start planning your next trip with Dynasty Travel.

G-SHOCK Launched New Watch With Against Lab

Hi Huneybees,

If you are a G-SHOCK fan, here's a SEA exclusive one for you. Coming June, the G-SHOCK DW-6900AL22, is a limited-edition collaboration between Casio and Against Lab. Against Lab is founded in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2015 with limited resources and armed to go against the norm. The brand represents the spirit of the underdog. All endeavor, no surrender. Against Lab offers various clothing and accessories made through the love for streetwear culture.

DW-6900 was first released in 1995 as the first G-SHOCK to feature an EL backlight. The backlight’s ability to display text or a symbol became a popular feature. Also, the series won fans as a “Triple Graph” model and has remained just as popular to this day.

Taking inspiration from the superhuman mental toughness of folks who wake up and ride their motorcycle to work, enduring the heat, rain, and occasional road bullies. This collaboration embodies the ultimate Malaysian spirit - The Grind.

Anytime is the right time to grind.

Motorcycle culture is one of many strong identities of Malaysian society. The motorcyclist spirit reflects the ethos of G-shock, both built by toughness. Almost every Malaysian has their own experience with a motorcycle - Meant to be cheap, easy to maintain, and reliable. A small motorcycle is used as a tool for conducting business. Name any task, and it has probably done it.

The design language of motorcycle components is adopted as the main design element for this collaboration. The overall look may be matte black and but it's the subtle details that appeals. Look closely and you can find that the watch has grain effects, almost like a tire and there's the custom "AGAINST" tire tread graphic and the brand slogan "ALL ENDEAVOUR, NO SURRENDER", printed along the watchband.

The surprise easter egg is the "AGAINST" mini logo font on the watch face, accompanied by a hidden "A" logo backlight; alongside the special engraving on the Case Back. The metal chrome watch face resembles the material of motorcycle exhaust pipes, while the orange outline is the colour of signal lights. Finally, the whole concept is completed with the engraved steel backing of AGAINST LAB's brand mascot, "A-Man".

This watch series will be available at https://gshock.casio.com/sg/ and in all G-SHOCK stores in June 2022. Please sign up for CASIO ID at https://www.casio.com/sg/casio-id/ to be updated with the latest information.

Hi Huneybees,

It's Summer time! Let's bring out your inner child get out and explore under the sun at the As You Were is a public art showcase. From now till 30 October, 5 public art installations will be spanned across 3 park spaces in Singapore (Bishan-AMK Park, Jurong Lake Gardens, Punggol Waterway Park) for your 'playtime'.

Commissioned by the Public Art Trust (PAT) under the National Arts Council (NAC), As You Were is a public art showcase featuring seven artists stepping into nature to create interactive visual artworks that portray their imaginations of an endemic world.

These works were developed based on the multitude of changes experienced in our daily lives since the onset of COVID-19. As You Were offers the public an opportunity to reconnect with nature as well as one another through fun and meaningful artworks that encourage a sense of play. It is also a reflection of the nation opening up, and the artworks serve as a timely reminder for the public to connect, communicate and play as we step out of the pandemic.

Encouraging play by evoking nostalgia

Nostalgia was a primary source of inspiration for the works – with Small Moments by Chong Zhi Wei Daniel; n o o n (at play) by visual artist Hazel Lim and installation artist Adeline Kueh; and Can You Hear Me? by Quek Jia Qi and Aaron Lim draws on familiar objects that gesture towards the bygone days.

The artists enlarged objects representative of one’s childhood, which serve as encouragement and reminders for the public to heal and play together after a challenging two years. Members of the public are invited to unleash their inner child as they find amusement at a giant Marie biscuit looming over visitors in Small Moments, or rest from the demands of the day with the set of seesaws in n o o n (at play).

Beyond evoking a sense of camaraderie, the works aim to create a deeper connection with our natural environment. Echoing a much-used phrase in the age of Zoom calls, Can You Hear Me? invites all to cultivate the art of active listening by taking solace in the sounds of nature through a paper cup telephone. By carving spaces for intimate interaction, the public is invited to contemplate and renegotiate ideas of togetherness today.

Natural landscape transformed by creative imagination

Taking the idea of contemplation into the wider community, artists such as Teo Huey Ling and Ang Song Nian produced works that encourage the public to press on collectively - be it through the whimsical and playful shapes that resemble daydreams in Our Dreams Must Continue or Ang Song Nian’s nod to the iconic face mask in Afloat, an object that has come to represent an act of solidarity of those around the world in fighting the pandemic.

As You Were represents the resilience of the arts community during the COVID-19 pandemic, where artists are going beyond their usual practice to exercise their creative imagination, and make art that is widely visible and accessible to all. This showcase sees the majority of the artists experimenting in public art for the first time, and the result is an innovative effort to create meaningful art that inspires and resonates with a wider audience. This also reiterates NAC’s commitment to make art accessible to the public in everyday spaces, adding vibrancy to the visual arts landscape.

In line with this new series of commissions, NAC will launch a Public Art Guidebook to equip commissioners and artists with the best practices to develop public art for Singapore. This echoes NAC’s commitment to work in tandem with the arts community and foster partnerships among Government agencies, strengthening our art ecosystem for a vibrant arts scene. This guidebook will be available on NAC’s website.

For more information on the participating artists and their artworks, head on over to NAC's website or follow the latest updates at NAC on Facebook and Instagram.
