Celebrate Songkran 2014 By Conserving Water!

| |
Hi Huneybees,

Celebrate Songkran differently this April 2014!

Other than an 2-day celebration with a music fest featuring Far East Movement and Nam Gyu Ri, etc, it will also be an effort to conserve water during this celebration. The organizers of this inaugural event announced that they have come on board the national effort to conserve water and have made a decision to change the concept of this event, by removing water activities that will lead to water wastage.

Celebrate Songkran 2014 will be held at The Padang from 12-13 April 2014. The outdoor festival will allow people to experience Songkran festivities, right here in Singapore. With a wide variety of activities lined up across the 2 days, the event is suitable for families, couples, children and party revelers! Celebrate Songkran 2014 will give people the opportunity to understand more about Songkran heritage with a twist of international flavor!

Songkran is a term derived from the Sanskri. It is also commonly known as the traditional New Year celebrated in Thailand and several Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, among others. The Songkran Festival has also been observed as a symbol of hospitality, love and the importance of maintaining strong relationships within families, communities and society as a whole. With water-splashing activities removed, there will be a carnival area, including more rides, games and activities to make the event equally. They are confident that by removing water splashing activities from the event will not remove the true meaning of Songkran.
